The work presented represents real ‘Sankofa Moments’- looking backward to chart a course forward. I contemplate notions of race at the beginning by looking at the fundamental building blocks of ‘Matter’ at the sub-atomic level. I examine the oratory of Martin Luther King Jr. visually and structurally from the point of view of flow and fluid dynamics. Finally, I acknowledge the future with an image I shot over 30 years ago, and recently returned to in the form of a photo-lithographic print image- Youth still moving forward through the storm 30 years after that moment with hope, persistence and confidence.
